Stephen Darmitzel, DDS, MS
Dr. Stephen Darmitzel was born and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Missouri where he received his BS in Biology. He went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) where he graduated as the highest ranked dental student in his class. Following dental school, he stayed at UMKC and went directly into a residency in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. In addition to the clinical requirements of his residency, Dr. Darmitzel earned a Master’s Degree studying ceramic (clear) braces.
Dr. Darmitzel is an active member of multiple professional organizations including the American Association of Orthodontics, the American Dental Association, the Rocky Mountain Society of Orthodontics, the New Mexico Dental Association and the Santa Fe District Dental Society. In addition, he regularly attends continuing education courses on orthodontics and contemporary topics in dentistry in order to stay current with advances in the profession.
When not practicing dentistry, Dr. Darmitzel enjoys spending time with his wife, Kylie and their two children. As a family, they enjoy backpacking, snowboarding, volleyball and swimming. He also enjoys fly-fishing in the rivers and streams of New Mexico. What you may not know about Dr. Darmitzel is that he attended the University of Missouri on a swimming scholarship and to this day he maintains his connection to the sport of swimming by coaching high school and elementary school swim teams in Santa Fe.
